2011 was a particularly strong year for shutdowns in the Rohrer Group. Alongside shorter shutdowns, the Rohrer Group also carried out several large-scale shutdowns. At the peak of the shutdowns, more than 1,000 people were working in all Rohrer Group trades during a large-scale shutdown in Austria.

In the Rheinland Refinery, Rohrer was the first company to achieve its goal and was presented with the "Safety Champion".

There was also lots of activity in northern Germany. Despite the Libya boycott, sales processes or takeovers at clients and competitors, the year was still characterised by many successful shutdowns.

In Heide, Rohrer was awarded a safety prize in spring for safely-completed shutdown work, whilst a framework contract was able to be extended in Hamburg and new activities were started in the ship loading sector.

We are proud to say that, alongside the many shutdowns in 2011, we were also able to satisfactorily serve our framework contract clients in day-to-day business in all works – further proof of the performance of the Rohrer Group in the areas of cleaning, scaffolding, insulation and other special services.

The new Rohrer Group business field, Catalyst Handling & Reactor Service, was launched in May. Joining this new business field are experienced commercial and operative teams headed by Rüdiger Blank and the brand new but internationally proven technology for safe work in nitrogen atmospheres. The first projects have already been successfully completed to the satisfaction of our clients.

In the autumn of 2011, it was decided that Rohrer Group would strengthen its commitment to chemical cleaning. The focus in this area is on cleaning water and product residues and the pickling/passivation of steel and stainless steel.

Investment was made into appropriate equipment and, in Mike Wiese, we were able to welcome a new member to the team who once again possesses a great deal of specialist knowledge and experience in this area.

Rohrer Richter Technology GmbH based in Lauchhammer, Germany, was founded in November. Under the management of Peter Richter and Rüdiger Blank, special technology will be researched and developed from there for the Catalyst Handling business field. RRT has developed a safe and efficient method for internal and external cleaning for industrial reformer pipes and cracking heater pipes.

Rohrer and its holding company IIG are making further use of the synergies resulting from Rohrer Group shutdown activities in all areas and the IIG activities of revision management and industrial insulation. IIG supports chemical plants, power plants, refineries and companies from the processing industry in their maintenance processes, optimises cost structures and minimises interfaces with the aim of increasing efficiency in project handling and revision work.

In 2011, IIG was awarded and handled an extensive construc-tion contract, including delivery and assembly, for technical insulation systems.

In partnership with Rohrer B.V./Netherlands, IIG acquired and realised more scaffolding and insulation projects. The partner-ship will be increased and intensified for the upcoming year in order to continue successful activities in the Dutch market.
