Catalyst Handling

Reactor Loading

Sock loading:

We load reactors with catalyst and ceramic balls in a controlled manner from stainless steel loading containers by using a special loading hose. By continuously shortening the loading hoses, the falling height never exceeds 0.5 meters, thus preventing a free fall in the loading line.

Dense loading/Unidense/pressure drop measurements:

For achieving a uniform and thus high catalyst density in fixed-bed reactors, primary reformers or cracking furnaces, we use state-of-the-art loading methods providing outstanding economic benefits to our customers. These methods help to avoid the formation of channels and hot spots in the catalyst bed. Depending on the type of reactor, dense loading or Unidense is applied. Subsequently, pressure drop measurements ensure the desired loading result.

Tubular reactor loading:

We have the right loading method for each type of tubular reactor.
Our belt conveyor machines allow us to simultaneously load up to 8 tubes, e.g. in acrylic acid plants (and other reactors). Easily moved and mounted, it is possible to serve different tube distances. The machine control unit ensures uniform loading of all tubes.
